A Hoot of a Tournament: The APP Tour - The Owl Newport Beach OpenPickleball enthusiasts witnessed an incredible week at The Owl Newport Beach Open from July 3-7, 2024. Jill Thyr and SKYblue Pickleball Co-Founder Shawn Berry took home bronze in the Mixed Doubles Skill: 5.0: 55+ division, despite it being their first time playing together. Congratulations to all the winners, including champions Robin Stenger & Ken Stone, and a special mention to Kristen Nagrani & James Gerson for their impressive second-place finish. This event was a true celebration of skill, sportsmanship, and the vibrant pickleball community.

The pickleball world is on fire with excitement as retired Boston area dentist, Dr. Ronald Plotak, has won the gold medal in the men's single category at the US Open Pickleball tournament in Naples Florida last Sunday! Not only did he secure the top spot in his skill level of 2.5/3.0/3.5 80+/85+, but he did it all while using his favorite pickleball paddle, Starstruck by SKYblue Pickleball.
